Adventure activities and attractions

Home > Destinations > New Zealand Family Fun > Attractions

Family attractions range from those that you are familiar with, such as the zoo, to the more exciting wildlife parks where you actually meet the lions. Then there are attractions like theme parks that have you turning white with fear as you have yet another go on the roller coaster!

Of course, not all family attractions are designed to scare you. Some, like the observatories, are very educational. You can discover the family-friendly observatories like the Stardome in Auckland, Caters Observatory in Wellington and in the South Island Mount Bruce University Observatory at Mount Bruce

This is a nature-based adventure, 4WDing on farm tracks and the beach to get to the iconic Leaning Lighthouse, where we see NZ fur seals in their native habitat. We enjoy tea or coffee and a fine muffin with the seals. We run this 3 hour safari twice a day, 364 days a year. Qualmark endorsed.

This half-day safari offers a unique view of the rugged beauty of Seal Coast, situated on Wellington's South Coast. Travel is by Toyota Landcruiser, firstly on a coastal ranch, then right on the beach, with waves lapping our wheel-arches!  Small numbers on the safari (max 9 per vehicle) make for friendly and informative tours. We explore Wellington's fault-line on the way, and get fabulous views of the city spread out 400m below us, and the mountainous South Island, 50-100 kilometres away.
