Mud pools, geysers and fun, fun, fun!

The town of Rotorua, north-east of Lake Taupo in the North Island, is located on the shores of Lake Rotorua. There are several other lakes in the same region, including Lake Rotoiti, Lake Tarawera, Lake Rotoehu and Lake Okareka, which makes the area special in its own right.

Yet it's not just the lakes that attract thousands of  visitors to this area each year. There are the steaming mud pools, gushing geysers, and the smell of sulphur, plus action-plus adventure activities, that have visitors coming back for more again and again.

Rotorua has built its tourist industry on this thermal wonderland, and there are many things that families can do here that will make you want to come back again and again too.
